Description | Our Day in London, October 1918 |
Details |
Four photographs reporting on activities across London during 'Our Day', an event organised to raise funds for the Red Cross. In Trafalgar Square, as pictured, there was a camouflage fair where a diminutive pony collector showed off specimens, munition girls sold Red Cross parachutes in faithfully recreated trenches, Lady Sybil Grant (daughter of Lord Rosebery) tried out a bioscope and George Robey auctioned a pig called Daisy which had been donated by the allotment holders of Wandsworth, although The Sketch reports it was donated by The Queen?!
