Muslims, bearing a wounded comrade on a litter, pass victims of communal rioting in Chelmsford Road, New Delhi, India; evidence of the tide of destruction which swept across the city as the Hindus, inflamed by tales of Muslim atrocities in Pakistan, took their vengeance. The death toll in New Delhi amounted to 1000.
