Details

Paul Cambon (1843 - 1924), French Ambassador to Britain (1898 - 1920) and signatory to the Entente Cordiale agreement between Britain and France initiated by Edward VII. It aimed to resolve colonial disputes over territories such as Egypt and Morocco. However, after centuries of conflict and mistrust, it marked a watershed in Anglo-French relations, laying the foundations for an alliance which would last through two world wars.
