Paul Poiret (1879-1944), influential French fashion designer, pictured centre as a private in the French Army during the First World War surrounded by an array of costumes he had designed for the show, 'Venus Ltd,' staged at the London Palladium in 1915, written by Ernest Rolls and with a score by Max Darewski.
