An advertisement for Pears' soap during the First World War, part of a series called Womanhood in War Time and featuring a Red Cross nurse The copy claims that Pears is preferred by 'the brave women who tend our wounded heroes. The hospital, with its long hours and work, involves extreme hardship on the complexion and hands, but Pears' soap so refreshingly fragrant, is ever a safe preserver of comely complexions.'
