Aftermath of the ascent by Professor Picard of Brussels University on August 18 1932, by balloon to around 10 1/2 miles, the greatest height achieved by a man at that point. Photograph shows Progressor Picard and Dr Max Cosyns lying full length in the shade of the gondola, due to be overcome by the extreme change of temperature from freezing cold to sweltering heat.
