Impression of the plunging elephants, causing a sensation at the London Hippodrome in 1904. The theatre, which specialised in circus variety acts in its first decade after opening in 1900, was renowned for its water spectacles and animal acts. The elephants climbed up a ramp and slid down a 45 degree slide into the Hippodrome's famous water tank in front of the audience.
