Wild flowers, including numerous poppies, growing over a ravaged battlefield in France with a solitary wooden cross marking the grave of an unknown soldier. The picture, by Captain E. H. Shepard, who served at the Front, reflects the inspiration for the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior in Westminster Abbey.
