Criminal physiognomy portrayed in CÚsar Lombroso's book L'Homme Criminel (Criminal Man). Here we see a page of German criminals. Numbers 1 to 7 are murderers; numbers 8 to 25 are thieves; amongst these number 14 escaped justice for many years thanks to a false nose which is shown; numbers 26 to 38 are pickpockets or cutpurses; numbers 39 to 44 are shoplifters; number 46 is a money forger; number 45 and numbers 50 to 60 are swindlers; while at the bottom of the page, numbers I to VI are bankrupt. [Numbers 47, 48 and 49 are not listed.]
