Prince and Princess of Wales (later Edward VII and Queen Alexandra) visit Knole, Kent, the seat of Earl Delawarr in 1866 - the promenade of the company upon the lawn with croquet before dinner. The Duke of Edinburgh (Prince Alfred), the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Prince George) and a large party of the aristocracy accompanied them. They went down to Sevenoaks by a special train of the London, Chatham and Dover Railway from Victoria station. The station at Sevenoaks was decorated with evergreens and flags and festooned with flowers.
