Prince William of Wied (1876 - 1945), Prince of Albania, with his wife, Princess Sophie of Schonburg Waldenburg and his children, Princess Marie Eleonore and Prince Carl Victor. Wilhelm was chosen by the European Great Powers to rule over the newly independent state of Albania. His brief reign, in 1914, was turbulent, marked by revolts and an attempted coup.
