Princess May of Teck (1867 - 1953), later Queen Mary. In December 1891, May was engaged to Prince Albert Victor, the eldest son of Edward VII, However, Albert Victor died six weeks later, in the worldwide influenza pandemic, Albert Victor's brother, Prince George, Duke of York, later King George V, became close during their shared period of mourning, and married the next year.
