Princess Helena Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein (1870 - 1948), daughter of Princess Helena & Prince Christian, grandaughter of Queen Victoria. Known, rather cruelly, as "Snipe" in her younger days among the family on account of her long nose and face. She never married but was a popular member of the royal family. Pictured opening the Royal Amateur Art Exhibition at Surrey House, Marble Arch in March 1912. Also present, left to right, is Sir William Richmond, the Duchess of Buckingham (at back), Princess Victoria and Mrs Ross an octogenarian competitor who was highly commended for her picture.
