Description	Proclamation of the Colony of Bay Islands
Details	The British gained violent control of the Bay Islands from Honduras in 1838, but did little about any formalities or governance until March 1852, when a royal warrant was issued and the islands were declared a British colony. A ship floats in the background as several sailors raise a British flag. Two lines of soldiers wait as several officers stand next to a wooden building, where the warrant has been nailed. Several islanders are standing in a group, watching them.
