Photograph of Professor Carl Myers' Air Bicycle being demonstrated at Congress Springs, Saratoga, 1891. The balloon above the rider was filled with hydrogen gas, whilst a pedal driven sail to control the direction and speed of travel. This machine was reported to have attained a speed of ten miles an hour and a height of 15,000 feet.
