Illustration depicting the proposed site for the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre as an arrangement of theatre, museum and offices on the Victoria Embankment near to Whitehall. This idea was proposed by Ernest Law, historian and barrister, and drawn by Donald Macpherson. In the event, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre was built in 1932 at Stratford-upon-Avon.
