Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and the Royal children entrain for Scotland at the temporary station in Maiden Lane before the opening of King's Cross in 1852. Despite her nervousness of new ideas the Queen's use of the newly invented railway set the seal of respectablility and public confidence on rail travel.
