Details

A railway accident at Abbots Ripton, Huntingdonshire (now Cambridgeshire) on the Great Northern Railway. It happened when the Flying Scotsman express train from Edinburgh to London was involved in a double collision, during a blizzard, with a coal train and another passenger train. Seen here is the scene on the night of the accident. Thirteen passengers were killed, and 59 people injured. ~~
