The first sea battle of the Second World War: the British armed merchant cruiser Rawalpindi's heroic stand, outgunned by the Deutschland. The fourth salvo from the Deutschland wrecks the Rawalpindi's bridge: the climax of an unequal fight in the gloom of a sub-Arctic afternoon, with a diagram showing the course of the action.
