Robert Burns (1759 - 1796), Scottish poet and songwriter, composing his poem 'To a mountain daisy' in a plough field (top centre). The surrounding scenes are, clockwise from top right: 'Twa Dogs'; 'The Cotters Saturday Night'; 'Auld Lang Syne'; 'Tam O'Shanter's Ride'; 'John Anderson - My Jo'; 'Cotters Saturday Night' and 'Auld Maggie'.
