During the Romanian peasants' revolt which began in March 1907, a cavalry patrol sabres the rioters in the streets of Comanesti. The Illustrated London News reports that 'the patrol arrived just in time to save the inhabitants of the Manor of Comanesti, outside the town of Botoshani'.
