Details |
Photographs of the bridal gown and bridesmaid's dress worn at the wedding of Prince Albert, Duke of York to Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon at Westminster Abbey on 26 April 1923. The wedding dress, designed by Handley Seymour was medieval in style, of moire mousseline with a knife pleated train and centred silver lame, stiffly fringed with pearls and silver beads. The train of old Nottingham lace was a gift from Queen Mary. The bridesmaid dresses were of ivory chiffon over crepe de Chine with floating panels of chiffon, appliqued leaves of silver lame and girdled silver foliage, caught at one side with an Anglo-Scottish posy.
