Rudyard Kipling (1865 - 1936), British writer, speaking at a meeting at the Mansion House, in support of the formation of bands as aids to recruiting and route marching during World War One. He was joined by the Lord and Lady Mayoress as well as the musician, Sir Frederick Bridge.
