Runnymede, Surrey, the island in the Thames on which on 12 June 1215 king John ('King John was Not a Good ManÆ) was compelled by the barons to sign Magna Carta, which guaranteed us constitutional freedom so that we only occasionally need to cut the heads off our rulers.
