Details

Hyde Park corner, between Piccadilly and Knightbridge, considerably narrowed the entrance into Piccadilly at the western end; and its removal was a great improvement. Illustration showing the auctioneer in the act of brandishing his hammer and exclaiming, de more, 'Once, twice, thrice! going going gone!' To the great satisfaction, no dout, of the speculative contractor who purchased the old materials in order to mend the roads.
