Scenes showing the unveiling of the memorial to Nurse Edith Cavell on 17 March 1920. The memorial, which stands at the junction of St. Martin's Lane and Charing Cross Road, featured a statue by Sir George Frampton and was unveiled by Queen Alexandra. Pictures show, from left, The Last Post sounded, the moment of the unveiling, the crowd surging round and Sir George Frampton the sculptor with the little boy who was the model for the child on the Humanity figure on the memorial. Edith Cavell was a nurse arrested by the Germans in August 1915 on charges of helping 200 Allied soldiers escape to the Netherlands. She was executed on October 12th 1915.
