Description | Scissored silhouettes in land of Caesars by H. L. Oakley |
Details |
Scenes witnessed in Italy during World War One by Captain Harry Lawrence Oakley, the famous silhouette artist. Caption reads, 'The roads of Italy - and especially the people who use them - are full of interest. Long and straight, as in Flanders, with rows of trees on each side, but without either the mud or the pave. Refugees, soldiers of all sorts, women workers, and vehicles of every age and speed are always to be met with; and Lieut. Oakley has skilfully scissored out some silhouettes of them for our readers.'
