Description | Sedate modern diners, the Trocadero by Chesley Bonestell |
Details |
Sedate modern diners on a site of old-time revelry. The Louis Quatorze interior of the Trocadero nightspot in London's West End, on the site of what was once the Argyll Club, a famous haunt of 'roysterers' in the 1870s 'when bands of young men and young women gathered there, and for hours they danced till early in the morning'. Illustration contrasts the venue's former liveliness with its present, more sedate atmosphere in 1925.
