Description | Seeing themselves as Bairnsfather sees them |
Details |
A homage to the cartoons of Bruce Bairnsfather in The Bystander, drawn by an amateur soldier artist, Major D. de la C. Ray. The picture shows a typical Bairnsfatheran scene with a number of Tommies similar to his characters Old Bill and Bert sitting in the trenches reading The Bystander (what else?) while shells whiz menacingly overhead.
