A diagram by G.H.Davis of the British Americas Cup challenger, Shamrock V, showing the difference between the configuration of the mast and sails for different sailing requirements. With the mast at full height (higher than Nelson's Column), Bermuda-rigged for racing, and (within the dotted lines) Yawl-rigged for Atlantic crossings. Owned by Sir Thomas Lipton, Shamrock V was defeated by the American yacht Enterprise in the Americas Cup races.
