Description Shardeloes country house during wartime
Details

Scenes from a country house, Shardeloes, in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, during World War II. The house was used as a maternity home for evacuee mothers, offered as it was by the owners, Captain and Mrs Tyrwhitt-Drake. On the outbreak of war the house was converted within 12 hours.
