The luxurious main staircase of the German steamship "Amerika" of the Hamburg-America Line, as decorated in the Adams' style by Waring and Gillow Limited. Pictured here in the year she was launched, in 1917 the Amerika would become USS America, following being commandeered by the Americans when they entered World War One.
