Description SIR EDWARD TWINING
Details

SIR EDWARD FRANCIS TWINING British peer and civil servant. Educated at Lancing and Sandhurst, after being commissioned in 1918, he entered Colonial Administrative Service in 1929. After being Govenor of North Borneo he became Govenor and Commander-in-Chief of Tanganika in 1949, and was amongst the first people to be raised to a life(non-hereditary) peerage in 1958.
