Brevet Major Sir Henry Hugh Clifford in uniform on horseback, in the British camp near Sebastopol, 1855. Clifford was the author of a remarkable series of letters and sketches sent from the battlefield during the war, which highlighted differences between Lord Lucan and Lord Cardigan. Clifford was awarded the Victoria Cross for his gallantry at Inkerman.
