Date 1931
Description Sir Oswald Mosley by Autori
Details

Sir Oswald Mosley, 6th Baronet (1896-1980), British right-wing politician, founder and leader of the British Union of Fascists (BUF) caricatured by Autori in The Tatler. When this picture was published in 1931, the magazine comments, 'The New Party, fathered by Sir Oswald Mosley, the Labour member for Smethwick, is not the first of its kind in the history of the Mother of Parliaments, for other Dissentershave arisen in the past and flung themselves into the blue like brilliant comets from the parent planet. No one would be so venturesome as to predict that a new heaven and a new earth can be created by anyone, because so many have tried and failed.'
