Front cover of The Sketch magazine featuring a portrait of Helen Venetia Vincent, Viscountess D'Abernon (née Duncombe) (1866–1954), British peeress, socialite and diarist. Lady D'Abernon, a noted society beauty of her day, married Sir Edgar Vincent in 1890. During the First World War, Lady Helen trained as a nurse anaesthetist and treated thousands of patients in allied military hospitals.
