Front cover of The Sketch magazine featuring Lady Michelham, formerly Miss Aimee Geraldine Bradshaw, at the time she was working on an ambulance train given by her husband, Sir Herbert Stern (1st Baron Michelham). At the beginning of the war, she cared for the wounded in Biarritz before moving north to work with the British Expeditionary Force.
