Description Slum housing in Naples, Italy
Details

The 'Barracks' in Naples, Italy. Slum/temporary housing for the poorest in society, occupying shacks and the remains of bombed out buildings. From these reas came the 'Scugnizzi' or Street Urchins, who's cause was championed by Father Mario Borelli who actively campaigned to raise funds for the abandoned street children and set up the Casa dello Scugnizzo (House of the Urchins) at the derelict Church of Materdei.
