Date 1939
Description Spanish Refugees at Perthus, France 1939
Details

A group of Spanish refugees, at the end of the Spanish Civil War, in Perthus, France. When the Nationalist Army finally won the Spanish Civil War, in 1939, a great number of the defeated Republican soldiers and supporters fled to France. They feared (correctly) that the blood-letting would continue until General Franco and the Nationalists felt they had driven socialism and the Republicans from Spain.
