A scene at Cuffley, Hertfordshire after the German L-21 airship had fallen to earth in a ball of flames, having been shot down by Lieut. William Leefe Robinson VC on the night of 2 September 1916. The work of clearing the site was carried out by men of the Royal Flying Corps in very wet and stormy weather. Picture shows one of the RFC men carrying a belt of German machine-gun cartridges which he had wound about his shoulder in big loops. The officer in command is inspecting the find.
