Royal Maundy at St. Albans Abbey. The Queen, accompanied by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, attends the first royal distribution of Maundy money outside London in 300 years. They are pictured with the Bishop of St Albans and other ecclesiastical dignitaries. The nosegays carried are the traditional precaution against plagues and epidemics. In the background is the bodyguard of the Yeoman of the Guard.
