Description St Gregory and the English slaves in Rome
Details

St Gregory (later Pope Gregory I) and the English slaves in the market place in Rome - 'Non Angli sed Angeli' (not Angles but angels) he is supposed to have said, because of their blond hair. He later sent St Augustine to Britain as the first Christian missionary.
