Description | St. Paul's Cathedral from the Whispering Gallery |
Details |
The chancel of St. Paul's Cathedral as seen through the piers of the 70,000-ton dome across the 112 ft. of the Whispering Gallery. An unusual view of the cathedral giving a good impression of the vastness, combined with delicacy, of the interior, which was restored to its full beauty in 1936 after five years cleaning and redecoration. The compass in the floor (bottom left-hand corner) marks Nelson's grave.
