Description | St Quentin stirrup-charge 1914 |
Details |
An artists impression of the 'stirrup-charge' that reportedly took place during the Battle of St Quentin (also known as the First Battle of Guise). As the Scots Greys charge the German lines, members of a Highland regiment join the charge by holding onto the stirrups of the Greys. This was an echo of an incident said to have occurred during the Battle of Waterloo in 1815
