Description | Stanley in Africa: the vanguard attacked |
Details |
The Emin Pasha Relief Expedition was much harassed by the frequent attacks of the forest dwarfs armed with poison arrows, which wounded several members of the expedition. Usually, they would deliver an attack then disappear suddenly, but on the occasion pictured here, the natives made an especially determined stand, resulting in several of them being killed and wounded.
