Scene from the stage adaptation of Michael Arlen's novel, The Green Hat at the Adelphi Theatre in 1924. The lead role of Iris was played by Tallulah Bankhead (seen right). Also on stage are Barbara Dillon as Venice and Leonard Upton as Napier Harpenden. The novel and the play was widely criticised in the press for its bad taste but its sensational storyline meant it was popular with the public.
