Farewell to civilisation - Captain Scott and his team pictured departing New Zealand in the Terra Nova, bound for Antarctica in December 1910 in their bid to become the first to reach the South Pole. Scott and his men would be beaten to the Pole by the Norwegian Roald Amundsen and perished on the return journey.
