Page from The Bystander showing stills from a pioneering animated film, The Adventures of Prince Achmed, acted entirely by silhouette characters cut by the artist, director and producer Lotte Reiniger (1899 - 1981). This German film, made in 1926, is the oldest surviving animated feature film.
