The sledge team of the Amundsen Antarctic Expedition camping on the Level Barrier, on their way to the South Pole, 1911. In December of 1911, Roald Amundsen and four others became the first explorers to reach the South Pole. In the foreground one can see the team's dogs and sledges and in the background, the men and their tent.
