Bat and Ball Public House at Hambledon, circa 1908. The pub was formerly known as the Broadhalfpenny Hut and was used as a pavilion by the Hambledon Cricket club in the latter half of the eighteenth century. Broadhalfpenny Down is considered to be the birthplace of modern cricket; hence the importance of the Bat and Ball public house.
